1. Information We Collect

We believe in transparency. Here is a detailed list of the data we collect and why:

We support anonymous sign in if you don't need device syncing.

  • Email: Used for authentication and to prevent abuse of the system. We do not share your data to third parties. We support anonymous sign in (email hidden) via Apple Sign In.
  • User ID: Wayflight assigned ID to allow syncing of your data across different devices where you are signed in.
  • Display Name: You can optionally assign a display name to your profile.
  • Flight Import: We access your uploaded calendar files (.ics), boarding pass images or PDF files solely to parse potential flight data. We do not collect or store any personal information from your calendar unrelated to flights.
  • Anonymous Usage Data: We only collect anonymous usage data to help us improve the features of Wayflight.
🛡️ We do not retain uploaded media or PII. Files are temporarily processed solely to extract flight details and facilitate your search.

2. App Permissions

We request specific permissions to enable core features of Wayflight. These are used only for their stated purpose:

  • Read Storage: Used for uploading documents (like PDFs or images) to the app to save flights.
  • Write Storage: Used to save shareable images (such as your flight stats or summaries) to your device.
  • Camera: Used strictly for taking pictures of your boarding pass or travel documents to save flights.
  • Notifications: Used to send you local flight reminders and important travel updates.
  • Billing: Required to process subscriptions for Wayflight Premium via the App Store or Play Store to avoid duplicate subscriptions.
  • Internet: Necessary for searching flights, retrieving airport data, and connecting to our servers to sync your flights.

3. European Customers & International Data

Information for European Union Customers

By using our services and providing your information, you authorize us to collect, use, and store your information outside of the European Union.

International Transfers of Information

Information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country in which you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may be applicable to your data depending on where it is processed, stored, or used.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services using SOC2 compliant providers. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Your data helps us to:

Our App uses third-party services for analytics, error tracking, and payments. We use PostHog for usage analytics, Sentry for error tracking, and RevenueCat for payments. These services only access anonymous usage data to help us improve Wayflight's stability and features. We do not transmit any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to these services.
