What You Need To Know

Wayflight is built to keep your data private. You can use the app without handing over personal information, it never runs ad trackers or shows ads, and it asks for only the permissions its core features need. The high level points are below.

  • No personal information required: You can use the app without giving your personally identifiable information.
  • No identified analytics: Usage data is anonymous and never tied to your identity.
  • No ad trackers: Wayflight runs no ad trackers and sends no data to third parties for advertising.
  • No ads: Wayflight shows no ads inside the app.
  • Minimal permissions: Wayflight requests only the device permissions its core features need.

Everything Else

1. Information Wayflight Collects

In the interest of transparency, here is the data Wayflight collects and why.

  • User ID: A randomized ID assigned to your account. It is anonymous by default unless you opt in to device sync.
  • Analytics: Anonymous usage data only. No personal data is sold to third parties.
  • Import: Only flight events are stored on our servers. No sensitive documents, files, or personal data are stored and sold to third parties. For calendar import, we only look for flight codes and dates, and personal details are redacted on your device before any text is sent.
  • Nickname: A display name assigned to your app when you use it.
  • Email: An optional login for the device sync method, which will be deprecated soon.

2. App Permissions

Wayflight requests specific permissions to enable its core features. These are used only for their stated purpose:

  • Internet: To search for flights and receive push notifications.
  • Notifications: Used to send you local flight reminders and important travel updates.
  • Write Storage: Only if you opt in to save your boarding pass images.
  • Read Storage: Only if you opt in to flight import. No personally identifiable information is sold to third parties.
  • Camera: Only if you opt in to flight import. No personally identifiable information is sold to third parties.
  • Billing: Payments are processed by Apple and Google, who store your payment details. Wayflight never receives or stores card or billing information, and only keeps your anonymous subscription status to unlock Premium and prevent abuse of flight search.

3. European Customers & International Data

By using Wayflight and providing your information, you authorize the app to collect, use, and store your information outside of the European Union.

International Transfers of Information

Information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country in which you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may be applicable to your data depending on where it is processed, stored, or used.

4. How Wayflight Uses Your Information

Wayflight uses the information it collects to provide, maintain, and improve its services using SOC2 compliant providers. It does not sell your personal information to third parties. Your data helps personalize your experience, improve the features of Wayflight, send important notifications, and provide customer support.

5. Data Security

Wayflight implements appropriate security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

6. Third-Party Services

Wayflight uses a few providers to run core features: PostHog for anonymous usage analytics, Sentry for error tracking, and RevenueCat for payments. They receive only anonymous data, never any personally identifiable information, and the app runs no ad trackers.

7. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You can request data deletion directly in the app under Profile → Manage Account Data → Request Account Deletion, and it will be acted on within 14 days. You can also reach Wayflight at privacy@pexelerate.com for any privacy request.

8. Children's Privacy

Wayflight is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided personal information, please contact Wayflight.

9. Changes to Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page along with an updated "Last updated" date.
